PlayStation Now is a subscription service that allows you to play streaming PlayStation games on your PS4 or PC. They have currently over 500 games available, and the subscription cost is about 20 bucks a month I think, but they have different packages. For instance, you can get 3 months for 40, or 12 months for 99. Anyway, it’s a cool service! Plus the games they offered were PS3 games, which weren’t available on the PS4! So, it was good for people who wanted to play their PS3 games, without switching consoles!

Every month they had some more games to the ever expanding library, and this month they added several more! These, however, were PS4 games! Now, maybe some people will enjoy this, but I think it’s just stupid! Look, giving us the ability to play PS4 games, on our PS4 is stupid! If I wanted these games I would have bought them and played them on my PS4! Most of the titles are older PS4 titles that have been on sale for 5 bucks or lower at one point or another. This literally only serves to bulk up your library count, and I don’t imagine it would benefit too many subscribers.

I mean look, if you really wanted to add another console to the list of playable games, why not add a console like the PS2 or original PlayStation? Then add some games that we actually can’t play on our PS4! I would kill to be able to play Chrono Trigger or the Xenosaga games on my PS4! Instead, you make PS4 games playable on my PS4…Games I always have had access to. wow.

See, I am not a fan of the Xbox One, but I applaud them for making so many of their older games backward compatible on their new system. They also do it for FREE for their fans and player base! That’s fantastic and awesome! PlayStation? They don’t give a damn! They charge you a subscription for their PS3 backward compatibility and then try and shovel games that were always available to you, down your throat as they take your monthly cash.

Look Sony, I love you guys and your system…but seriously! Get your heads out of your ass and start caring about the people who are slamming fistfuls of cash into your pockets, or they might just decide to slam it into Microsofts pocket!

The other night was the fourth of July in America where I live, A holiday where people light off fireworks and firecrackers. Now where I live firecrackers are illegal, but people still light them off! So, as the fourth was winding to an end, a few minutes before midnight, I wasn’t terribly surprised to hear some booms. They were soft booms, but I assumed they were firecrackers being lit some distance away. Then I heard a loud crack! I knew that wasn’t a firecracker, it was something hitting my house!

I got up as quickly as I could, grabbed my crutches and hobbled outside to see what or who had just hit my house. Now, I admit that it did take me awhile because of my foot, so I wasn’t too surprised when I got outside and didn’t see anyone! I figured some local kids were up to shenanigans and must have thrown something at my house and taken off. It was too late and dark right then to try and find whatever it was that was thrown, so I figured I would just check around in the morning. I start to turn around to head back inside when I hear this female voice speak out. “Hello? Can you see me?”. Startled a bit I look around, and feeling kind of stupid answer with “No….where are you?”

“Hello? Can you see me?” the voice asked. Startled a bit I look around, and feeling kind of stupid answer with “No….where are you?”

“I’m hiding!” she says, “Right here! above you!”

I look above me, and sure enough! There’s a woman laying on my roof with a wrench in hand. Then it dawned on me, that the boom I heard actually came from the roof, and must have been her either hitting my roof with said wrench or dropping the wrench onto my roof. So, I ask her why she was hiding on my roof! I honestly couldn’t think of anything else to say or ask.

She claimed that she was running from someone. A person was chasing her with a knife and trying to kill her. She claimed that she got onto my roof in order to hide from this person. She then began asking questions like “Why are you on crutches?”, “Do you live alone?”, then followed up by asking if I could put my dog away in another room and let her come into my house to hide from this knife wielding maniac.

To clarify, a woman who I have never met in my life, who I met for the first time as she was banging on my roof with a wrench, wanted me to secure my guard dog and invite her into my home as I hobbled around on crutches. Yea, that wasn’t going to happen! Sure, if I felt she was genuinely in trouble I would have tried to help her out some, however, there was nobody around. The street was quiet as can be, and there was no indication that there was anyone chasing her. There weren’t even neighborhood dogs barking.

Clearly, the events she told me just weren’t actually happening. So, I called 911 and informed them there was a woman on my roof with a wrench claiming she was being stalked. The police arrived, and she told them what she had told me. Now, what all happened after that, I don’t know. I do know they arrested her, told me to stay away from her and if I ever see her anywhere near my house to call them right away and under no circumstances should I let her into my home.

So, I’m guessing she isn’t a nice person! I also assumed she was probably on some kind of drug or something. I am just guessing that, based on the fact that she was banging on my roof with a wrench though! Still, that seems like it has a high probability of being right!

And that kiddies, is how I ended my 4th of July!

I’ve mentioned before (in passing) how I broke my foot before but never really gave any details. The break occurred when I slipped getting out of the shower. Showers are dangerous you guys! Seriously, you need to be careful in there! As much as my broken foot hurts, I would rather have had that broken than my neck!

Anyway, after slipping I was in denial a bit that it was broken. I told myself that it was prob some weird twist or sprain, and decided what I needed was to just have a nap and when I woke up it would all be better! So, that’s what I did, I went to sleep. When I woke up, I went to stand up expecting the pain to be just slightly sore, and it was even worse than before. It was at this time that I came to the conclusion that this was a break. I grabbed my phone and called for an ambulance, then made my way hobbling outside. I have a dog, which is part lab and part pit bull, so I figured it would be easier for me going out to meet them, than them coming in to meet me!

Getting outside nearly killed me! It was only a few steps, but each step was filled with pain! I managed to get outside, but only barely and collapse onto a bench I have sitting on the front porch, and there I waited. It wasn’t long before the ambulance came zooming in. The paramedics came walking up and asking what the problem was, and I told them pretty much what I just told you verbatim. They took a look at my foot and asked if I could move my toes. After extreme concentration and pain, I was able to get my toes to move. Then they looked over my foot and informed me there wasn’t any discoloration or swelling, so they didn’t think it was a break.

I decided that if it wasn’t a break, then I didn’t need to go to the hospital! The fact of the matter is, I hate hospitals! I’ve known MANY people who have gone to the hospital for the most mundane reason, and then they ended up dying there. It’s because of that, that I now equate hospitals with death. If possible, I will do everything in my power to avoid going to the hospital! So, I sent them on their way relieved that it didn’t seem to be a break. I stood up to go back inside and was immediately filled with so much pain that I literally collapsed! I knew, despite what they said that this was a break. I also knew that I wasn’t gonna call them back and tell them I changed my mind. So I called my aunt and asked her if she could take me to a hospital. She was in a different city, so it was going to take awhile to get to me.

I waited for hours. I tried to get up a few times, but I just couldn’t. Thankfully a friend of mine came by and she brought some water by. Which I really needed! It was a hot day, and I was sitting out in the sun for hours!

Finally, my aunt got back into town, picked me up and drove me to the hospital which is also in another city. I got in, and after waiting for awhile, they stuck me in a wheelchair and wheeled me down to get my foot x-rayed. They determined that it was, in fact, a break, but that I would still able to walk on it. I just needed a load bearing boot and some crutches. The doctor told me it would take about 6 to 7 weeks to heal up, then he sent me on my way. After I got home, I googled around on that type of break, and most people said theirs didn’t heal for 10 to 11 weeks, so that’s the time frame I am expecting.

So, that was 3 weeks ago. My foot is obviously still in a ton of pain. Some days are worse than others, but it’s always constant pain. Even now as I write this, I am in pain, and I’m not even standing on it! I haven’t been able to get to the store to buy groceries cause of the pain, and I can’t stand in the kitchen to cook either. So, because of that, I have been buying a lot of delivery. Which is expensive, and only serving to make me fatter. I don’t like ordering pizza and hamburgers every day! I would kill for some hamburger helper or some chicken! I would love some home cooked food, but until my foot eases up some, I just don’t see that happening. As it stands, I had planned to BBQ today(It’s Independence day in America), but can’t stand in front of a grill to cook for hours on end, let alone get up and down the front porch steps!

So, yea! I really hate my foot right now!

The PlayStation VR headset is something I have wanted since it was first announced! Of course, back then it was called Project Morpheus. I guess Sony decided to give it a simpler name.

The PlayStation VR headset has now been out for about a year. During this year I never picked one up. Reasons? Well, to be perfectly honest price played a large part of my choice not to get it. For the PSVR starter bundle(Which includes everything you need to start experiencing virtual reality on your PS4) you can expect to plunk down 500 bucks or more. That’s more than a Playstation 4 console! So, getting one was put on the back burner!

After several days of internal debating, I finally decided to break down and get a Playstation VR. Was it worth it? Am I happy with it? Are there any complaints whatsoever? Glad you asked!

I had never bought the cam or the MOVE controllers before, so when I decided to get the PSVR I had to get the Starter Bundle. You need the Cam so your console can tell where you are looking with the headset on. The MOVE controllers aren’t REQUIRED, though it does add to the immersion factor. In many VR games, the MOVE controls act as your hands. Without them, your hands are controlled by your DUALSHOCK 4 controller. That being said, there ARE some games that require the MOVE controls…so, it’s better if you have them.

So, I ordered the starter bundle online, and waited for it to arrive! While I waited, I suffered a little bit of an accident, and broke my foot! This caused me to have to hobble around on crutches! The joy! The day after my accident, the VR headset arrived!

When I first saw the box, I thought I was going to have to have someone help me bring it in. It was large, and again: I was on crutches. However the box it’s self was really surprisingly light! So I was able to bring it in on my own!

Excitedly I popped open the box and pulled out all the connectors and wires. So, I sat there unpacking and reading through the manual(Now, I don’t normally read through setup manuals, but there were just SO many wires and connector boxes that made reading the manual a good idea. Could I have done it without the manual? Maybe, but following directions made it so much easier!). After a few mins, it dawned on me! I can’t set this up! At least not that day! My foot was still in bad condition, I required crutches to get around the house…and setting this headset up would require me to hop and crawl all over the place to get wires and connectors where they needed to go! So, with sadness in my heart, the headset sat there for days! After awhile I was able to get around on my foot easier, so I hooked it all up….

Before I even had the headset hooked up completely I ran into my first problem! The PS4 has 2 USB ports! Both are currently being used! One is being used for my DUALSHOCK 4 gamepad, and the other is being used for Extended Storage. The problem is that the PSVR requires 3 USB ports to hook up to! Yea, three! One for the headset it’s self and 2 for the motion controls. Plus, you STILL need your DUALSHOCK 4 controller plugged in. So, even if I removed my Extended Storage USB HDD from the PS4, I would still need 4 USB slots on a 2 USB system!

Now, there are ways around this! Sony does sell a charging station. Since the MOVE and DUALSHOCK 4 controls are wireless, you can charge them up and use them wirelessly! However, you would think this would be something SONY would include in a starter bundle! Or at the very least place a warning saying “Hey! Get a charging station if you actually want to use and enjoy this product!”

Anyway! So began another waiting session. After a few days, the charging station arrived, and I was finally able to sit down and enjoy the VR experience on my Playstation 4 gaming console!

How was it? Well, it was a mixture of extreme awesomeness and disappointment.

The headset its self looks very sleek and sci-fi! To be honest, I’m not particularly keen on the color! My console is black, and the headset is white! Having them match would be ideal, but I suppose maybe the camera might have trouble tracking it in dark rooms? I don’t know! Still, it looks peachy keen! It’s also very lightweight! I’m not sure how light VR glasses tend to be, but I expected a little more weight to these.

The headset size is adjustable, and even fits my head! I have a giant head! Most baseball caps don’t even fit me! This? It totally fits me! the eyepiece section can also be adjusted so that someone with glasses can still use the device while wearing their glasses! If you don’t wear glasses, you can adjust the eyepiece section so that it is flush with your face, and all outside light is blocked out.

Around the edges of the headset is some cushioning. This obviously is a must! Otherwise having hard plastic pressed against your face would hurt or irritate your skin and possibly cause bruising. The cushioning makes wearing the headset much more comfortable usually. I say usually because I got this headset JUST before summer rolled around, and to be quite honest, the cushioning makes it nearly impossible to play in the summer, at least for me. See, I live in a desert and temps frequently rise well above 100 degrees. Having a cushion pushed around my face increases the heat and makes it too uncomfortable to play. Not only is it super hot, but it causes my brow area to sweat, and then sweat begins to drip into the goggle area and you have to pull it off every few minutes to clean the lenses.

How does it play? Well, it’s amazing to be honest! What it’s capable of is jaw dropping! However, it’s still relatively new! Which means developers haven’t really begun pushing the limits on this piece of hardware. In fact, a lot of the games available aren’t even really games. They are more like Tech Demos! Sure, there are a few real games out on it, but finding them can be difficult. However most of the PSVR exclusive games you hear about, just aren’t really games!

Still, they all look amazing and realistic!

There’s more to the VR headset than Virtual gaming as well! For instance, you can watch TV on it! If you have a HULU account, they have a PSVR app that makes it look like you are sitting on a couch, in a fancy schmancy living room with a giant TV. So, you can watch your favorite shows on HULU in luxury. Don’t have HULU? No worries, you can still watch movies and TV on a giant screen. By default, all apps like AMAZON Prime and NETFLIX are displayed on a giant floating screen in a field of darkness..almost like watching something in a theater. This also applies to non-PSVR games as well. You can still play them and it’s like playing them on a large screen TV. That’s pretty cool!

Overall, I think the headset is really cool! However, there’s not enough quality content out there to justify paying the heavy price tag. If the price drops significantly or more quality games come out for the system(And there are several on the horizon, including Skyrim VR), then it’s worth picking up. At this time though? Just not worth it!
