I have had the same mobile phone for several years now! Close to 5 years now! It was a Kyocera Hydro, and it was a really good phone at the time! I originally got it because it was supposedly waterproof and I didn’t want to worry about rain in the winter or sweat in the summer. So, this sounded like a good option! It was waterproof too! It worked quite well! Hell, I even answered the phone a few times while I was in the shower! Never had any problems! It always ran perfectly, and I never even had problems with the battery!

As time went on though, more and more apps wouldn’t run on it! However, that was fine! I’m a simple man! As long as it makes phone calls, and runs a few of the more important apps, then I am happy as a bee! However, over time, the apps that DID run on it, quit running on it do to updates! Facebook half the time was unresponsive and Chrome would constantly crash. It got to the point where the only “Important” app that ran on it was the email app! Not the Google Email app, but the one that was built into the phone!

So, I decided it was finally time to get a new phone! I went phone browsing, and all the phones from my provider that were in stock were Samsung Galaxies and iPhones…and I’m not paying 600 bucks for a damn phone! Even if I had 600 bucks to throw away like that(Which I don’t), I wouldn’t waste it on a damn phone! Then one phone hidden amongst the galaxies caught my eye! It was a Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge, and it was only 60 bucks! I bought it, and am actually quite happy with it!

This phone has a larger screen than I am used to, which is nice! It also runs all the whizzbang apps! (I can snap chat now you guys!!!) and is just an overall amazing product! It has a built in Gyroscope too, so if I wanted to I could get in on the VR craze! Which I may? Who knows! I should point out though, that only the 2017 model of the J3 Emerge has a gyroscope though! The 2016 model doesn’t have one!

It has a front and back facing camera which makes it a breeze taking pictures of people and things..and also awesome for taking selfies! (I can take selfies now you guys! *Duck lips!*)

Overall I am quite happy with this phone! Sure, it’s not waterproof, but it’s fast and runs everything that I need…Here’s hoping that this one lasts 5 years as well!

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a PS4 exclusive title that I very nearly skipped over! Sure, early trailers looked good, but let’s be honest here! Don’t most early trailers look much better than the final product? So, yeah, it looked good but the story as best as I could tell seemed to be lacking! Cavemen fighting dinosaur Robots just didn’t really appeal to me!

Anyway, I went ahead and picked it up. Turns out, that I am very glad I did! The game is amazing, and nothing like I expected it to be! I’ll try to explain the game in the best spoiler-free way possible!

First I want to make this clear! This game IS an action RPG! It’s not a third person shooter with RPG elements! It’s a massive game world, with towns, and experience points, and levels, and dungeons and tons of quests and even a Crafting system! I do admit that the crafting system leaves a lot to be desired, but it does what it needs to and keeps the game simple enough so that you aren’t completely lost if you come back to the game after taking a break from playing it.

The game takes place in the future, sometime after our downfall! Humanity has begun recovering and has become a primitive world filled with many tribal societies. Our cities have become ruins, and our everyday items are now ancient relics! Oh yeah, and apparently machines we left behind now prowl the world like savage wild creatures!

You play a young strong woman (Her age or Gender doesn’t really matter to me, but there are people out there who only play games with strong female lead characters..and other people who won’t play a game if the lead character is female….why? Because both groups are stupid…this info is provided for the stupid people who only care about that) who has grown up as an outcast from a tribe. She heads out into the world on a quest for redemption and self-discovery..and along the way she meets new people, helps those in needs, and fights a ton of crazy robot creatures!

Throughout the game, you will even be presented with moral choices that help shape your vision of the character…Is she a scrapper, a thinker or a pacifist? It all depends on how you play her! Basically, the game is a cross between several different games! It is a strong story and RPG world like Witcher 3, with some climbing and stealth elements that are similar to Assassin’s Creed and a hunting/crafting system that is very similar to FarCry! So, if you ever wondered what the love child of Witcher 3, Assasin’s Creed and FarCry 4 would be like? The answer is Horizon: Zero Dawn!

Long story short, it’s definitely one of the best games on the PS4 and is a must own title! Would I label it as a system seller? I would say it was! It’s good enough to make someone consider buying a PS4!

I have been a cable cord cutter for several years now, and have managed to get along just fine relying on my Roku, and all the wonderous apps/channels you can get for it! Mainly, Netflix and HULU! This set-up has worked great up until recently! See, I have recently began having “Cable Cravings”! Mainly I started missing little things like waking up in the morning and watching the news with a cup of coffee and actually knowing what was going on in the world before stepping out into it! I also missed just vegging out in front of the TV and watching whatever comes on next! Yea, I can do that on Hulu(Kinda), but after about 2 and a half episodes of something I get a “Hey! Are you still there?” message flashing across my TV which requires me to jump up and grab the remote to confirm that I haven’t died while watching golden girls! If I don’t confirm that I am there in time, it stops the program. To me, this kinda ruins the “Veg-out” feeling!

So, I decided to try something “Newish” to me! One of those live TV streaming apps! There were a few to choose from; I went with Playstation Vue, but it’s far from the only option! There’s Sling TV and DirectTV NOW, and maybe more services that I just haven’t heard of! Plus, I’m sure more companies will be coming out with their own soon enough!

Why did I go with Vue? Well, for me it was just the better choice! your preferences might be different! You should definitely try them all out! Each one has a free 7-day trial so you can see which one fits your needs best! I tried them all out, and as I said Vue worked best for me. Below is my experiences with DirectTV NOW and Sling TV.

→DirectTV NOW: I was constantly kicked from the app and thrown error screens. So, I basically didn’t get to experience this at all. I googled it a bit, and found out that a lot of people have this issue…but there are others who seem to use it just fine. Not sure what causes it to work fine for some, and not for others…so, until they geDt the app working properly, I decided to stay away.

→Sling TV: It had a nice looking guide, but it was extremely slow and laggy on my Roku. It didn’t crash out on me, or throw errors my way. It was just really slow, and on occasion it was unresponsive. I found myself having to double and sometimes triple click to make a selection.

So, as you can see the other options just didn’t really work for me! Vue did! It wasn’t perfect by any means! It doesn’t have Viacom channels! This means no Comedy Channel, TV Land, VH1, CMT and no MTV among other channels! And to be perfectly honest? “I want my MTV!” – So, if this is a deal killer for you? I totally get that! It almost was for me! Combine that with the fact, that Vue just got rid of their Viacom channels last year! That means, odds are they won’t be coming to the service!

Vue for me also doesn’t offer CBS to me! Though apparently, they do offer it to about 50% of their viewer base according to some site I read. I, however, am not in that footprint! Which means I have to also subscribe to CBS All-Access to watch my CBS shows! Not too much of an issue, because All-Access has a few digital exclusive shows that interest me anyway.

So, what exactly did Vue do right?!? Well, their app for the PS4 runs and looks amazing! it has a fantastic looking guide, that reminds me of my old cable box guide! It gives descriptions, you can view ahead! It’s just amazing! Unfortunately, the Roku app isn’t anywhere near as awesome! There’s no guide, and if there are descriptions available for episodes? I haven’t figured out how to access it! So, in order to “Get the most out of it”, I use the PS4 app! This is a bit of a bummer since generally, I prefer to use my game consoles strictly as game consoles, to avoid excessive wear and tear.

Another amazing feature of Vue is that it has a DVR in the cloud! you can tell Vue to record something or all episodes of something, and it will record it and store it in the cloud for a month! This means it takes up no space! It’s saved in the cloud! Also, unlike with my old regular cable company, it will still record the episode or movie even if your power or cable goes out!

So, yeah! For me, VUE was just the way to go! However as I said before, it might not be for you! So, I strongly urge you to try all the free trials and see which one fits you best! Also, if there are other similar services that I was unaware of comment and let me know!
